The interesting part of the songs of Belle & Sebastian is that most of their songs are quite upbeat and bright but with dark lyrics about troubled young people. It is some how obvious that these meaningful dark lyrics are hidden beneath the brightness of the melody.
The black and white images of ordinary people in their gloomy life with colorful scribbles are depicted in the design of the LP series to demonstrate the dark lyrics being covered by the bright melody to create the appropriate mood.
