Ambioris, a young, introverted, Dominican-born writer, lives in his quiet and organized world surrounded by disruption and family antics: his father’s disappointment (Masimino) and his mother’s love of fun (Mercedes). He and his family receive a visit from a completely unexpected visitor, Ramona, driving the quaint family system to fall apart. After a short, intricate moment with Ramona, all is revealed to Ambioris regarding his identity, which had been kept away from him his whole life. The family doesn’t piece back as a whole, but the relationship between Ambioris and his mother strengthens. The storyline concludes the personal value of immigration, the ambition of finding a greater place, and actions taken despite disestablishing circumstances.
