00:00:00.440 --> 00:00:03.950
During the whole of a dull, dark and soundless day

1
00:00:04.790 --> 00:00:06.160
in the autumn of that year,

2
00:00:07.140 --> 00:00:10.050
when the clouds hung oppressively low in the heavens,

3
00:00:11.890 --> 00:00:13.460
I had been passing alone

4
00:00:13.840 --> 00:00:14.860
on horseback

5
00:00:15.540 --> 00:00:18.150
through a singularly dreary tract of country,

6
00:00:19.720 --> 00:00:23.260
and at length found myself as the shades of evening drew on

7
00:00:24.260 --> 00:00:26.960
within view of the melancholy house of Usher.

8
00:00:28.640 --> 00:00:30.590
I know not how it was,

9
00:00:31.740 --> 00:00:33.750
but with the first glimpse of the building,

10
00:00:34.540 --> 00:00:38.050
a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit.

11
00:00:39.540 --> 00:00:42.350
I looked upon the simple landscape of the domain,

12
00:00:42.940 --> 00:00:44.350
upon the bleak wall,

13
00:00:45.440 --> 00:00:48.260
upon the white trunks, decayed trees

14
00:00:49.040 --> 00:00:50.860
with an utter depression of soul.

15
00:00:52.840 --> 00:00:54.150
There was an icy nous,

16
00:00:56.270 --> 00:00:57.200
Yeah,

17
00:00:57.940 --> 00:00:58.710
a sinking

18
00:01:01.600 --> 00:01:02.950
sickening of the heart.

19
00:01:05.640 --> 00:01:06.860
Yeah.
