This particular assignment given by Professor Ahlberg—
a redesign of an existing magazine, served as a basis for typographical exploration within the editorial context. The magazine that was subject to the redesign was “Modern Farmer”, a hip, contemporary farming magazine aimed at young urbanites who aspire to lead a more pastoral life, leaving behind concrete landscapes in favor of fields and barnyards.
The aim of the redesign was to attract a more ecletic audience, who are not only interested in “modern farming”, but are also more aesthetically conscious. They are young, active and committed to curating every aspect of their lives, even the magazines that they subscribe to and leave out on their recycled driftwood coffee tables.
