This collaborative project with ANGELA CHEN creates a typographic message for the environment and applies a similar narrative and spatial consideration to a physical location. New Yorkers always ignore the surroundings they pass by every day. Drain covers are something people ignore every day or they leave us with a negative impression of this city. Therefore we are trying to present a cheerful living area and make people slow down their pace while they are walking. We went to Long island City and Brooklyn and painted some positive quotes on the drain covers which all have playful grids.
