Dare To Know

Dare To Know Dare To Know Dare To Know
This project's intended purpose is to raise awareness about News Literacy by bringing together the current messaging from the New York Times with the public kiosk platform of LinkNYC. It shows people how certain headlines and news stories can be disguised behind a veil of credibility because of the platforms on which we consume them. We don't question their legitimacy if they look believable and we don't distinguish fact from opinion if they seem trustworthy. This project proposes an animated Kiosk display with a headline that 'falls apart' when someone attempts to read it, to emphasize the fact that not all stories hold up to scrutiny. Regardless of the news outlets we subscribe to, every individual must embrace complexity. It is intended to inspire everyone to seek out the truth independently. As Kant famously said "have the courage to use your own understanding... Sapere aude. Dare to know!"
