TMHIE is a work of narrative investigation born partially of Valeria Luiselli’s experience as a volunteer court translator for undocumented migrant children in New York. The book is named after Luiselli’s daughter’s words, “Tell me how it ends, Mamma,” after her daughter heard pieces of stories about the children Luiselli encountered.
