As the widespread use of facial recognition technology creates vulnerabilities in our ability to safeguard our personal information and accounts, I created an AR/VR photo-editing application that enables users to edit facial imagery in real-time and in profile pictures. There is a range of editing options for this application that offer the possibility of altering or replacing facial features. Topical cosmetic options include applying different types of accessories makeup that obscure, modify, or redefine specific facial features. Cloak also detects locations where facial recognition is actively used so the user can either activate the app or source areas that are not active hot spots.
