9 yards is an initiative to further women empowerment in India. It began as a personal project due to my own interest in sarees, the fabrics, the patterns, the cultural significance and my experience growing up surrounded by sarees. This led me to designing sarees using typography. It then turned into a way to give back and to help those that create this garment that brings me so much joy. The website is educational and also a way for others to engage, contribute and create a community with a unified goal of supporting the saree makers.
