The Beat Generation was a social and literary movement that took place in 50’s. Beat artists rejected conventionality along with the capitalistic feature of American life. The Beat movement praised the expression of free-flowing thoughts and ideas, incorporating the use of drugs, sexuality, and the experimental nature of jazz music into their work.
I chose to redesign a set of three counterculture literary classics through collage, which I think visually represents the free-form/stream of conscious Beat technique. I aimed to capture the essence of the subculture in accordance with each of the book's themes.
