Encouraged by an influential professor’s motto that good work only comes from bad work, I was able to let go of my worries and experiment with every crazy idea that I had for this project, which had resulted in some of my best non-digital works yet. For the letter A, which is an experimental 3D design, I had the idea of playing around with food and food culture, something that has been incredibly important to me after living on three separate continents. I actually crushed up the berries in the photo, and they were laid out in the shape of an A for the photographs. The letter B was my favorite of the project. For this letter, I purchased insect specimens and placed them in a letter mold and into the freezer. I was extremely happy with the result. The ice bubbles surrounding the insect specimens had created a beautiful texture which I was able to capture on camera.
