Brand for Film: About Time

Brand for Film: About Time Brand for Film: About Time Brand for Film: About Time Brand for Film: About Time
When it came to creating the visual identity and branding for the film “About Time”, I decided to go with a shatter/kaleidoscopic ideal. In the film, the main character Tim has the ability to jump through time, and with that he can also create different realities, and I wanted to make that the focal point of the expanded branding. The shatter being the different realities that he created along the way. The main poster consists of the moment Tim and Mary first meet in a museum, but to get there he jumped back in time several times, hence the several shatters. Furthermore, even with that magical plot of the story, it still is a movie about cherishing the little moments in life and the fast pacing indicates how fast life passes us by, so I decided to expand that effect to more minimal character posters that include Mary and also Dad, who plays an even bigger part in the movie. The title card animation includes the type changing from thin to bold with the "T”s growing and shortening respectively. That is supposed to represent the father and son and how their relationship changes throughout the movie. I also added sound effects that are the same things we hear in the movie when Tim is about to jump in time.
