Wendy Given harnesses nature in her photography, fine art, and sculpture. This book design project is a glimpse into her world of animal life and the elements. I built a model of the environment from which this artist pulls so much meaning. I chose a light wood board for the cover, along with preserved moss, which I glued to the front cover. While looking through the work of the artist, I noticed that some of her work incorporated a lot of light and bright colors, while some had themes of death and deterioration. I noticed that the breadth of her work is a perfect representation of the constant cycle of life, death, and rebirth in nature. This led me to group the contents of the book into 5 sections: darkness, emergence, life, decay, and recycling.
