This collection draws from the haunting stillness of sleep paralysis—a liminal state where the mind drifts while the body remains trapped. Inspired by Nicolas Bruno’s dreamlike visuals, the work is rich in symbolism, inviting interpretation and immersion into this ambiguous space of consciousness.
In collaboration with my best friend and roommate, we created a top for the collection "Pause", exploring themes of physical captivity during sleep paralysis. Raw leather was molded tightly to the body, evoking a sense of restriction. The swirling form from the bust represents the mind’s departure from the frozen body—crossing into another realm.
Safety pins line the side seams, both as visual detail and a metaphor for tension and restraint. For surface treatment, we transferred prints onto the leather using paper and Citra Solv, then layered ink and sealed it with Mod Podge, enhancing the texture while preserving the leather’s organic feel.
