Prompt:
Create and design a poster for NASA’s Artemis II mission. Create a process book including sketches and previous iterations.
Solution:
Recalling classic newsprint and the retro aesthetic of 1960s space race times, I wanted to create an interesting tension between old and new, the analog of print news and form of sixties simplicity against the high-tech capabilities of our present day.
Designed a New York Times-style article capturing the fervor of the Artemis mission as if it has happened alredy, echoing the NYT’s celebration of the moon landing over fifty years prior. Combined the print-out with paper cut-outs of the moon, mars, earth and a rocketship. Scanned it all back onto my computer and printed the fully poster on newsprint paper. Also done for the process book.
