The book brings together three different media: Anthony Bourdain’s iconic essay, candid images of food and people eating, waiting in line, desiring, and TikTok quotes from food influencers constantly saying “you have to try” spots around the city. By pairing these voices and visuals, I wanted to slow things down and reflect on how food has become hype, performance, and social currency, and on the quiet, unspoken class system of reservations, access, and who gets a seat at the table.
