This project explores 1950s fashion trends through research and conceptual design, culminating in a period correct dress constructed from an unexpected material from the era. The chosen object, the hula hoop, an iconic craze of 1958, serves as both inspiration and structural element. The final design incorporates actual hula hoops arranged with striped patterning, while the accompanying shirt features heat-transferred imagery from 1950s advertisements and photographs of people engaging with the toy, blending historical reference with experimental fashion construction.
