Wanli is a music identity project based on Hyukoh’s song “Wanli,” meaning a thousand miles, which reflects a long journey and complex emotions toward the future. Drawing from both the indie pop/rock sound and the Mongolian landscapes featured in the music video, the visual system translates distance and movement into mountainous forms.
The tight and raw qualities of the music are expressed through rough, distressed textures, while a custom typeface—built with rigid, non-curved forms and no fixed structure—echoes the irregularity of a mountain range. This concept is further expanded through material exploration, combining elements such as crumpled foil and stone-like textures to physically embody the terrain and its depth.
