Originally started by Jim Henson’s puppetry organization, UNIMA-USA, Puppetry International has grown into a popular seasonal publication. Based on a submission process, this publication successfully highlights all formats, stages, and time periods of puppetry and its connected community from across the globe.
A traditional puppetry stage is one with a curtain at the top of a window, and the title on the bottom. This is reflected in the layouts; having each article start at the top of a the page, with an drop cap, while the title and author of the article are at the bottom within its colored box. This hint towards puppetries traditions and past gives the publication an opportunity to grow with their content while staying connected to their roots.
