Part of the “Dressed for the Occasion” Exhibition that commemorates significant Anniversaries in history through the use of costumes, Death of Van Gogh pays homage to the 175th anniversary of Vincent Van Gogh’s death. Wheat fields were a common theme in Van Gogh’s works and ironically, it was in a wheat field that Van Gogh committed the act that would prematurely end his life. This costume, in ceremonial military fashion, incorporates over 1,000 pieces of wheat to create the iconic swirl patterns frequently employed by one of the greatest artists of all time.
