A24 is a film studio specializing in small independant productions like The Lobster and Moonlight. For their first year at the Academy Awards, they wanted to throw an after party that distinguished them from the often dry, networking oriented Oscar parties that have become the norm in Hollywood. To this end, the cocktail parisol was chosen as a totem to guide all design decisions. A lowbrow, kitsch object elevated to new psychadelic realms through photographic and spacial treatment. These images captured the essence of A24's stance not only for their after party, but for their entire relationship with the film industry: to subvert, elevate, and above all, to embrace the unexpected and ordinary in all their art. The party was held at the iconic Sunset Tower in West Hollywood.
