CARIFESTA

CARIFESTA CARIFESTA CARIFESTA
For this project, I was asked to redesign a poster for an event and to make it reflect the feeling of the event advertised. I chose Carifesta DC which is a small Caribbean festival with food, live music, and flea market style booths to buy clothing and other things at. With this knowledge, my main focus was movement. Movement was found everywhere from the way the clothes being sold flowed in the wind, to the dancing. I then used the traditional Rastafarian colors for my color palette. The red stands for the blood of black martyrs that were shed around the world during their struggle for liberation, equal rights, and justice. Yellow represents the wealth of the homeland, Africa, particularly the gold. Lastly, the green represents the beauty and the vegetation of the promise land, Ethiopia.
