The maze was used conceptually as a metaphor for the theme of John Mayer's first album, “Try!” There are 11 songs on this album, about Mayer getting lost and finding himself in life, career, and romantic relationships.
The mechanism of this album works as a treasure hunting game. Each hidden card contains a song from the album. The goal is to collect all 11 cards and walk out of the maze. At the end of this game, the hunting path will evolve into letters to spell out "JOHN MAYER," then evolve back to the path, like cycles in life that never end.
