Soothr as a restaurant offers you a glimpse into the lives of the three Thai owners and the flavor they bring from their homes to the city of Newyork. My intention with this design is to capture the innocence of their childhood, and the essence of Thai culture; and bring it into the space of being a new-age, chic, Michelin-star restaurant in the city.
My inspiration was the diverse flora and fauna of Thailand, as well as the Thai script Abugida. Thailand’s national flower, the golden rain tree, has been a symbol of Thai royalty for generations. I wanted to bring the flower into the design in a more approachable way while keeping its value intact. Just like the flower, the dishes offered by Soothr are typical household dishes elevated to make you feel like royalty.
